A Case Study
MYOB
Superconnect was engaged by MYOB Australia in year 2000 to develop an Internet-based
superannuation clearinghouse to enable users of MYOB software to make payments to many
funds on behalf of many employers with one simple click of a mouse button. This required
superconnect to work closely with MYOB to develop a "straw man" model, workshop that
model, refine the "straw man", work through the various user-interface, operational,
technical, and risk management issues and document and implement a final product. This
process was an evolutionary one that occupied approximately 5 months.
The solution designed and developed for MYOB had to take into account requirements from
different classes of users and provide functionality based on the permissions allowed for
those users. It had to take into account a complex database structure to ensure full
track and trace of all interactions especially money flows associated with detailed
contribution data.
The clearinghouse service has a dedicated automatic link to the payment system of
Commonwealth Bank, and provides for online retrieving of employer data by the recipient
superannuation fund. It electronically links the desktop of a small business operator to
the back end administration system of a superannuation fund. It utilises advanced web
technologies and XML messaging to link the different systems together.
